What's for sale?
This is a set of six, lead crystal wine glasses in a pretty pale, cranberry-coloured glass.
Each glass has six slice cuts around the bowl, while the stems have six facets and a single knop.
The crystal is bright and has a musical ping.
The colouring and style of the glasses suggest that they're Victorian, as does the tiny traces of uranium, visible under UV light as the occasional speck. These aren't made from normal uranium or Vaseline glass: they only contain trace amounts, otherwise the whole glass would fluoresce green (in spite of the cranberry pink colour). It does help date them though.
As a side note, Uranium glass is so called because of the inclusion of Uranium Dioxide during manufacture. It's harmless and no more radioactive that than most other things in our homes; the glow under UV light is a chemical reaction, not because of radioactivity.
What condition are they in?
- In very good condition
- No chips or cracks
What are the measurements?
- 13.5cm high
- 8cm in diameter
- 258 grams each
- 1548 grams in total
