What's for sale?
This is a large, stoneware, promotional water jug for the French pastis brand Ricard.
It's a nice looking item in a textured, orange glaze, with the embossed "RICARD" in brown. These would have been produced in fairly large numbers for use in bars and restaurants. This is an older example, but could be from any time from the 1930s to the 1960s.
The form number 830 is impressed on the base, along with the stamped "Atelier de Ceramique Ricard", referring to Ricard's ceramic studio. Over the years, they produced a large variety of ashtrays, jugs and other items with some very interesting designs. It's quite a collectable area.
